Putney, London

About the Project
In the main house, the folding doors connect the kitchen and dining area to the garden. Their warm-toned finish sits comfortably alongside the oak flooring and joinery, while the rooflight brings daylight into the dining space from above.
The garden room pairs black aluminium frames with natural timber cladding. Folding doors open the room onto the terrace, creating a direct connection with the garden. Both buildings use the same door system, with finishes chosen to suit their individual character.

This residential project in Putney brings together glazing for the main house and a separate garden room. Framelite supplied and installed two Cortizo Bi-Fold Plus door sets and a rooflight to the main house, with our scope covering site surveys, technical drawings and installation.
Our Approach
1.
Understanding the Design
The glazing needed to suit two distinct spaces: the main kitchen and dining area, and the separate garden room. We considered the opening arrangements, frame finishes and connections to the surrounding construction, bringing both buildings into one glazing package.
2.
Surveying the Openings
Site measurements informed the frame sizes and installation details. The relationship between the door thresholds and adjoining floor finishes was considered alongside the garden room’s roof opening and supporting construction.
3.
Developing the Details
We prepared technical drawings to establish the door configurations, frame positions and perimeter connections. For the main house rooflight, the detailing addressed the supporting upstand and its relationship to the roof covering and internal ceiling.
4.
Supply & Installation
We supplied and fitted both folding-door sets and the garden room rooflight. Our involvement continued through installation, coordinating the glazing with the prepared openings and surrounding finishes.

The Glazing Package
Two Bi-Folding Door Sets · One Main House Rooflight

Cortizo Bi-Fold Plus doors serve both the main house and garden room, allowing the panels to fold back and open each space onto the garden. The contrasting frame finishes respond to the materials of each building. A rooflight above the main house dining area complements the vertical glazing, introducing natural light from above.
Installation & Site Coordination
Thresholds · Frame Fixing · Rooflight Connections

The door installations required careful positioning within the openings, with attention to threshold levels, perimeter sealing and clearance for the folding panels. At the main house, the rooflight connection was coordinated with the supporting upstand and surrounding roof finish.
Project Showcase

The Main House
Warm-toned folding doors complement the oak furniture and natural finishes of the kitchen and dining area. The doors frame views of the garden, while the rooflight brings daylight across the dining table. Together, they create a bright space with a direct connection to the terrace.

The Garden Room
Black aluminium framing provides a crisp outline against the timber-clad façade. The glazed doors bring daylight into the room when closed and fold back to open it onto the terrace, allowing the interior and garden to be used together.
